How do I reply to a playtxt™ sent to me?
On the text message, it will say username of the person who sent it. To reply, simply send a text message to the number shown on your 'Home' page (URL_________________) with the persons username followed by your message. For example, to send a text saying “How r u?” to a user called “Emily” you would send a text containing: “Emily how r u?” and send it to the number shown on your home page.
What if I don’t want to receive texts at particular times during the day?
Log in to www.playtxt.net as usual, and click on 'Set When To Receive', there on the playtxt scheduling you can control when you will receive playtxt™ text messages. The text messages will wait on our servers and then be sent to your phone as soon as your next receive window arrives. This does not affect the receipt of regular non-playtxt™ messages to your mobile handset.
How do I stop someone specific txting me?
Send a message in the usual way (sending it to the number on your 'Home' page (URL______________)) and include the user's username followed by the word “block” ON ITS OWN. So, if you want to block a user called “Emily” you would send: “Emily block” . You can unblock a user in the similar way, by sending a message: “Emily unblock”.
How do I allow someone to send me playtxt's again if I have blocked them?
Send a message to the user in the usual way (sending it to the number on your 'Home' page(URL______________)) and include the user's username followed by the word “unblock” ON ITS OWN. So, if you had blocked a user called “Emily” and wanted to unblock that user, you would send: “Emily unblock”. You can block or unblock a user as many times as you like. If you try and unblock a user you have not blocked, nothing will happen.
How do I find out more about someone?
Send a message to the number on your 'Home' page(URL______________) with the persons username and a questions mark. So, to find our more about a user called "Emily" you would send: "Emily?" and we will send you back more information about Emily. Alternatively you can visit the website and search for the user.
Are any words automatically blocked by the system?
We intermittently monitor the content of playtxt™ messages for abusive or offensive language. We also have a system which will remove or dilute those words that some users might find offensive. Any users repeatedly breaking the guidelines outlined within the playtxt™ Terms and Conditions (URL______________) will be permanently barred from use of the service. Can I send picture/MMS messages?
In the very near future we will be making it possible for you to send photos/MMS to other playtxt™ users. Until recently most of the network operators did not support cross-network picture-messaging; some still don't. There are also some issues regarding compatibility of phones. Soon these issues will be sorted out. We also don't want to provide our users with a service until it is easy to use & reliable. Once this happens we will launch a new version of playtxt™ which includes this functionality! So WATCH THIS SPACE! We expect to launch full picture messaging services beforte the end of 2006.

Someone has been bothering me/has been abusive to me. What do I do?
Firstly, you can block the user if you have not already. This means that they will never be able to send you a playtxt™ message again. (If you have given them your mobile number directly, obviously blocking playtxt™ messages will not help). If you feel that blocking them is not sufficient, or you would like to report the incident, please complete the feedback form.
Where do I write to if I want to give you feedback or have a problem?

How can I change my username?
Currently, you cannot change your username. You will have to close your account, and then reactivate yourself by signing up again with a new account. YOU MUST DEACTIVATE YOUR ACCOUNT FULLY, otherwise the site will not accept your mobile phone number, as for obvious reasons we cannot have users with the same mobile phone number!
How can I change my mobile phone number?
To change your mobile number, log in to www.playtxt.net as usual, then click on Edit Private Details (URL______________) from the main menu.
I've forgotten my password – what do I do?
Send a playtxt™ in the usual way to the number on your 'Home' page(URL______________) write “PASSWORD” . We will then playtxt™ you your USERNAME and PASSWORD back to your phone straight away!
How do I get my picture onto my profile on the website?
Select ‘manage your photos’ from the main menu (URL_____________________) and click the BROWSE button, and find the picture file on your computer you wish to upload. The file must be a JPEG or a GIF file. Most digital cameras take pictures using JPEG or can certainly save pictures in JPEG format from the supplied software, the same is true with most scanners. You can upload upto 100 photos to your profile FREE!
Can I upload a picture to the website directly from my phone?
You can send picture/photo messages from your phone to your profile! Simply send them to the number on your 'Home' page(URL______________).
Sending photos to your profile costs your standard network send MMS/photo message rate.
How can I view playtxt's I have sent and received?
Log in to www.playtxt.net as usual, and click on ‘Your Messages’, here you can see all the texts you have sent and you have received.
How long are playtxt's stored on the website for?
Currently, playtxt™ messages are stored in ‘Your Messages’ permanently until you delete them. There is no limit to the number or length of time. However, we reserve the right to change this policy at any time. In addition, playtxt™ messages are deleted from your mailroom if you permanently delete your details from our system.
What type of phone can I use with the playtxt™ service?
You can use any mobile phone that can send and receive regular text messages. There is no special functionality required.
Which network operators does playtxt™ work with?
playtxt™ works with all the main UK operators (and is the only friends and flirt services be truly cross-network) Namely: Vodafone, Orange, O2, T-Mobile, Virgin and 3.

Will playtxt™ work with pre-pay phones?
Yes; although there may be a few exceptions. If you experience problems please complete our feedback form.
What internet connection or browser do I need to use the website?
The site is designed to work best in 800x600 resolution or higher, with 16k colours or more. It should work fine on IE 6.0 and up, Netscape 7.1 and up, Mozialla Firefox 5.5 and up, Opera 7.11 and up, or equivalent. We recommend using IE6.02 and up, or equivalent.
I moonlight as a geek and I want to know what is the website written in?
The website is written in HTML, Javascript and JSP, using JDO with a scalable proprietary location based messaging engine called Angelia™, written in JAVA.
How many postcodes in the UKdoes the playtxt™ site support?
The playtxt™ site supports the entire UK Royal Mail postcode list of 11.4 MILLION postcodes.

Currently we do not offer advertising to playtxt™ members. However this will change in late 2006. We will be offering carefully filtered and highly targeted advertising, based upon users interests and locations. We will cap the number of texts sent to just a handful a month. You will also be able to control when and how many texts you receive. You will not be charged to receive those texts. Any future services will be 100% opt-in (requested only by you). At playtxt™ we use text messaging every day, so we know how annoying spam can be! We won’t spam you or allow anyone else to. Whatever we decide we will let all our users know before we go live with any new services.

This registers officially that we are storing some information about you. It means that we are legally required to treat your data in a suitably confidential and secure way. Anyone processing personal data must comply with the eight enforceable principles of good practice, set out by The Information Commissioner (who enforces and oversees the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000).
